One of the stars of my collection ... a 1940's solid Russian Black Bakelite Gramophone Player ... acquired June
2003 from a guy/driver in the export/import business to and from Eastern Europe !! .... Thanks are due to
Vitaly Brousnikin of Moscow, who runs the Red Star Radio and Gramophone Gallery website in Russia, for help with my research.
Vitaly's knowledge of old Russian audio technology is second to none !!!
Vitaly tells me that during the 1940's many small factories existed throughout the old USSR, producing a variety
of different Gramophone Players..... This particular model was electric powered with a two pinned lead which connected to
a wireless for sound amplification through the set's speaker. The needles used are basic steel styli, of which an amount
still exist in the sliding holder built into the player.
Above and below can be seen the round sliding needle ( styli ) compartment plus the pull out lead for connection
to the wireless ...top right hand corner... just below the small knob ...
Note the thickness of the steel turntable, overall a very solid heavy and substantial Gramophone !!!
